The Remote Video Surveillance System (SPECTRE) has been specifically designed to fulfil the most stringent remote surveillance and close support requirements in the harshest of environments. Ease of concealment and operation have been prime considerations in the design of the system whic offers great versatility for most surveillance roles.
SPECTRE comprises small remotely deployable R.F. camera sensors ("Scouts") to which are connected rugged PIR detectors. The scout units remain quiescent until activated by the PIR upon the occurrence of an intrusion.
Upon activation the camera automatically transmits a video signal (which also contains its sensor idenity) to the Base Station. The video signal is of fifteen seconds duration.
The video imagery is automatically recorded and displayed at the Base Station where the date and time of the alarm are also indicated. Simultaneously an alarm signal is also transmitted from the Base Station via VHF radio link to miniature monitors (pagers) which are intended to be carried by the support team. The monitors indicate the identity of the sensor in alarm condition and the date and time of alarm. Body worn "Panic Buttons" operating over an UHF radio link can also be operated with the Base Station and remote pagers. Up to six remote "scout" sensors and two "Panic Buttons" can be used with each Base Station, a software package supplied with SPECTRE permits simple system configuration.
